The bitter cold of winter. POTD 1-21-07
Winter around here lasts a while...our worst snows can be in April. So...may as well enjoy it for what it has to offer. I thought this abandoned birdhouse and tree sums up winter nicely. In it's own way, beautifully lonley. Hmm...sound like a title to a song or poem. It's actually not too cold out today, so I decided to take some shots of my little Drew too, in his green shoes--LOVE em! Oh, and had the chance to use Scott Kelby's method of faking fill flash when you forget to use it. It works like a charm...if anyone is interested, just let me know and I'll clue you in:) Taken in natural light, ISO 200. Custom WB. Ap 3.2 and SS 1/800. The tree and birdhouse I converted to sepia and on the others, bumped curves and levels a bit.

All the pics are good, but I love the closeup of the baby.. the catchlights are great and his monkey hat is tooo adorable! =)

the bird house is also very clean and the conversion very good. bleached out and weathered timber always gives such good textures to photograph.
