2 for the price of 1. POTD 2.24.07

While walking (surprise, surprise) I saw this piece of newspaper blown up against the tree. It was so windy today I thought I would have blown away if I were any smaller. I had to make sure DS was strapped in his stroller securely. The second sign I thought was hilarious as we don't have water anywhere around. We live in a semi-desert climate, one of the driest states in the US. Yet...I came across a sign like this over a tiny little creek. Ironic if you ask me. Obviously the first one I conversted to BnW and the second I bumped the curves, adjusted the levels and burned the sky at 10%.

I like your bw picture. And I like how the water on the sign matches teh sky. Burn the sky, huh. I'll have to play in photoshop and figure out how to burn the sky. Sounds very poetic. Not now honey, I'm burning the sky.
By the way I like your slideshow too. Has that always been there? Great for the too-lazy-to-navigate browser. I just sat here and saw some really cool pictures. Very nice work.

Ok. You managed to make a piece of newspaper/trash look pretty. Awesome in my book!! Love the vibrant colors of the sign. Don't you just love some of the crazy things people think are necessary--guess its a "CYA" thing... :)

I must say that your comments yesterday and today have inspired me to learn a new tool in PS. I've got to learn the burn tool... Much to learn! But, that's part of the reason to do this challenge, right? Thanks so much for sharing and for your comments, too.

Love it! I guess it just goes to show that the government thinks we are all a bunch of morons...and perhaps we are.
Anyway, two great shots.

Oh, and I wanted to tell you that JEEPS are made in Toledo (across the border from me, and my hometown). I drive by the JEEP plant every day on my way to work. Maybe I'll try to get a shot of it someday. Enjoy your new ride!

Great shots. I really like your b&w conversion. My only cc is that I would like to see more of the background on both of these pics. Especially the sign one. It would have been neat to have the sign in the foreground and the river next to it.

Love the B&W paper picture. It's just neat. A nice pic of something that would be overlooked. I'm gonna start looking at trash now LOL. The colors in your sign pic are great. It would be even funnier and in context if the surroundings were desert like and you included them in the photo.

These are fabulous as usual! You've got a big fan here! I LOVE the second one, the colors are amazing (I know you helped out with that in PS, but still it's all yoU!) Great shots!

Great color. O agree with Jodie- love the term "burning the sky".

These are some great shots! Really like your b&w conversion in the first. And the color really pops in the second.

There was a sign similar to that near my old house where there was run off from the orange groves and local mountain snow. Most of the time there was barely any water but even a baby can drown in as little as 1" of water. Gotta love those CYA signs!
