Signing for the hearing baby...still important. POTD 3.6.07
We are believers in baby sign. When I was in my first trimester with Andrew, I did a lot of research about the whole philosophy. I read a lot supporting it and even some that discouraged it. We decided that the pros outweighed the cons and began investing in books and materials to help us teach sign. It was important for us to use the proper ASL signs, even if Andrew decided to create his own. He is just now at the place to really begin learning, so...while it's not making life easier yet...we're believing that in the near future, it will.

Great colors! My son decided he didn't want to talk so we started signing with him. It didn't hinder him, he knew tons, just didn't want to open his mouth & use it! He still signs and I use it to make my point without making a big scene in public! LOL He learned how to communicate better earlier with this. Keep going, it's so great!!!
I love the colors on this!!
I wish that I would have done this with my 2!! Think its too late now? 13 & 10, HA!
This is a beautiful shot, and a great idea! Good for yoU!!
Cool pic. My dd's daycare taught them sign. It's pretty amazing when kids can't communicate with words but you know what they want. Of course, it would help if I knew the signs too! lol
I love the photo. My sister went to school for ASL. She taught me nephew starting when he was 4 months old I believe. It was so neat to see him sign to her and tell her what he needed. I loved that he could communicate with her even before he could talk.
i have a friend who taught her baby girl to sign--and it has definitely been helpful!!! I am going to try it with our second.

That is so cool. I know someone that teaches baby signing. I wish I had known about this when my kids were little. It's just amazing. Great shot. The colors are perfect.
Great light and I love the colors! I would love to see a picture of the whole nursery....I LOVE baby nurseries! Let me know how that works, I wish I would have tried it.
First off your photo is great! And props to you for using baby sign. I really wanted to try more signs but we only got a few down. Awesome shot!
My neice caught on to baby signing very quickly and it helps my brother and sis in law out a lot as she doesn't really talk yet. We are starting next month with my ds Matthew as he has ear damage from one of the antibiotics he had in the NICU. Abby is learning in preschool. I think its great that kids learn other ways to communicate. TFS!
Great job on these. I signed with all of my boys, and just when I was about to give up, I realized that they signed something to me. It was an awesome feeling.
ok, i loved your photography before but now i admire you more! as the mother of a deaf child thank you for teaching your child even just a few signs. makes it so much easier for children to communicate and our deaf communities realize they are accepted! great pic and great job!
