The BEST $25 you'll EVER spend! POTD 4.2.07

Ok, so if you are looking for an inexpensive backdrop, drop everything, go to WalMart and get 8 yards of black felt. It will be the best $25 you ever spent!! This stuff works great. You'll have spot it with a lint brush, but wow...it worked so well. These are a few of the shots I got using this felt and was impressed I didn't have to do anything in PS to the black. I used natural light and varied Ap/SS. I did realize that I need a hairlight with really dark backdrops though;) I mainly used my 24-70L for these and toggled between ISO 400-800 depending on light.

I love the first one the best. Nice conversions too.

i like the first and last ones the best. and i love your backdrop. i have some black velvet but i need a bigger hunk of the black felt for the ground. great compositions!

not too shabby girl! i wonder if the felt is sold in white...i just can't seem to find a white bg that's wide enough...
i like the shot with the froggy best. though i think i'd still go ahead and make the bg darker in ps. it looks a bit 'not-so-black' KWIM?
tfs!

These are beautiful. She should be so happy with these!

Who knew about the felt, huh? I've got a stupid black sheet that I use if I have to, but it always comes out gray. Oh, I also have black seemless, but it's a billion feet long, so I never get it out.

Anyway, the first one is my favorite. So sweet...she looks joyful. :)

The background does look great. I went to Walmart to buy black felt and somehow ended up with a black flannel and it would work great if it wasn't thin. I'll have to go back and try the felt. Thanks

These are very pretty, and what a great deal on the fabric. I like your perspective on these, and I'd love to see some of them in B&W.

Very cute! Love the froggie! :) How much black felt did you need to cover the bg and floor?
