Meet VIVA! POTD 4.5.07

You may or may not recognize this little critter, he is the frog from the Rainforest Cafe restaraunts. I bet Jaboyd has been there several times, living so close to Disney and all? His actual, given name is CHA-CHA, but...my DH and I re-named him while on our honeymoon. We were pretty poor at 22 and 23, so we decided to go to Las Vegas. Neither of us are big gamblers, but your money will stretch there, or at least during the off season it will. We treated ourselves to a fun dinner at the Rainforest Cafe while there and bought this little guy as a memory of our time. That is where the name VIVA came from...VIVA Las Vegas? Get it? We had him over our rearview mirror of our little Geo Metro for the LONGEST time and he's pretty faded (so thank you photoshop.) I know he himself does not appear slimy, but frogs are right? I found VIVA in the closet the other day and decided it was time for little Andrew to play with him. So...our honeymoon token has become a play toy, who knew?

I took these against my new felt just for fun. I used my 24-70L lens because I'm just having such a hard time getting it off my camera lately. My DH threatened to take it when my new camera comes in, because my current camera is becoming his;) I told him if he wanted to see another anniversay, he better NOT......

I really like your first shot! The black really makes his bright colors pop out. We also like to eat there when we are at Downtown Disney. :-)

I HAVE THIS SAME FROG!!!!! in puppet form. I love him. I mostly use him in my classroom around St. Patrick's Day. He is covered in pins that say things like "Kiss me I'm Irish!" and "It's not easy being green", etc. I love him!!!

He is very cute, love his name, VIVA. My dh and I got married in Vegas 26 years ago. Yikes!(before Rainforest Cafe was invented :))

I love how the color pops against the black background. Sounds like you are getting great results with the black felt - might have to get me some. I like his big eyes on your blog banner, but I think that little guy that was there before is waaaayyyy cuter!

Too funny! I have been there and I have a frog too. Ours is a different version and very well may have just been donated. We almost went to Rainforest on Saturday when we were out there. They have a yummy shrimp pizza!!

Here's a tidbit too... apparently the original "Nemo" of finding Nemo fame is there as well. If you can find the small tank and the middle of the restaurant and spot him. Rumor has it some Pixar/Disney folks were watching him and that's where it all started.

Well, I must say that I'm a bit envious of you today! Just read your comments on my blog that you live in CO with the rockies in your backyard! That is my dream. Then I just read on your blog that you're getting the 5D! That is my 2nd dream! AND you have the 24-70L lens?! *sigh*. But enough about that...your photos look great, especially on that black bg and the angle! I love using felt as well - I have it in both black and white.

Fun shots, Heather!! I hadn't see all your other recent shots, either. Love them all! I just adore the one of your ds holding the 2 eggs out to you. Really precious. And, of course, the tears are pretty fun, too. Some day he'll look back and laugh!!

The new banner is great... :)
