My daily dose of reality. POTD 4.16.07

I laughed out loud when I read what the theme was this week. Emotion! Well...I can't get much more emotional than I am right now, I'm pregnant (ha-ha!) I thought about what to take a photo of for first and instantly knew what it was to be...my shots. You see, I have a love/hate relationship with them and they make me extremely emotional before/after injecting them. Thankfully I only take them when I'm pregnant, so at the most...10 months at a time. I had a terrifying fear of needles and can remember when the doc told me this is the route he wanted me to take. "I have to inject MYSELF? You've GOT to be kidding me!" Unfortunately...there is no other way, so I sucked it up and got busy. The first couple of times were difficult and through tears, gnashing of teeth, and shaking-I got through it. Believe it or not, they are not too bad now, I'm a pro. It's purely preventitive and that's where the love part comes in. I know that I'm doing everything to help my baby and that is very emotional, in a good way;)

I kept these dark and dismal feeling on purpose, thought the BnW suited the mood I was in while taking the shots-no pun intended.

They come pre packaged with the dosage in the needle already. All I have to do is unwrap one and inject-that's it. It's pretty slick.

This is what the shot looks like after injected and the saftey cap snapped. This way I'm protected from sticking myself with the needle afterward. Genius!

I could never inject myself. Nope, never. I'm a big 'ol wimp. I would make my husband do it.

You are right, the b&w does make the mood more grim. I wish you the best of luck in your pregnancy. May it be healthy and last just the right amount of time to produce a beautiful, healthy baby.

Love #1. I really love your DOF on it. I can't believe you caught that tiny drip of liquid on the end of the needle. I really like B&W for these pictures.

oh heather i can't even think of doing that while i'm NOT pregnant, let alone while i am...you're a strong, brave woman!
mom is on insulin so i'm a bit used to the shots, though i've never given her any (dad and little sis do that)...
tfs!

Wow, I don't know how you do it! I would hate to have to give myself a shot everyday.

Anyway...#1 is AWESOME! Look at that focus & DOF! Seriously...that rocks!

That first shot of the shot is amazing, heather. The drop hanging there, all formidable is very evocative.
I am impressed with your candor in sharing with us. Here's hoping for a healthy ten months.

good take on the theme, but not so good that you have to take the shots. I'd be fighting it, too. Good for you to capture this and be brave for your baby.

WOW!!!! I am blown away by that first shot! Unbelievable job! Wonderful capture.

I hate shots too. I'm such a baby about it that when I need blood work done, DH has to go with me and hold me down..umm I mean hold my hand..lol

Nice shots, the drop is awesome.

The first shot is great. I love that drop of liquid hanging there. You're braver than I am! I was never afraid of needles until I got pregnant. The first series of blood drawing right at the beginning stages of being pregnant a nurse brutalized me and I've been terrified of needles ever since

incredible shots of a definitely painful subject! when i was pregnant with my twins i had to do about the same thing and go in for steroid shots every week. it's not fun and i'm feeling your pain. you did a great take on your subject!

Wow! Big hugs to you! Great pictures though!

PS: My cousin gets really bad migranes and when we lived together I'd have to give her the shots because she couldn't do it! (miami_mama)

Love the creepy conversions. Great emotion! I'm in the 'could never do it' camp. I once kicked a nurse when she gave me a shot.

Big hugs to you girl, sorry you have do that everyday, but you do what you gotta do for the sake of the child. Your so brave and the photos are very cool. The first one with drip says it all and the b&w makes it all the more intense.

Great Job! I too love #1!!! Yikes! My dad has 3 blood clots in his left leg...they gave him shots to give himself (blood thinner) so that the clots would dissolve...so one a day for 5 days...and he HATES them!!!! I am so thankful I don't have to give myself shots everyday...or even once. Heather I am praying for you to have a healthy baby & for you to remain healthy as well! Everyone please remember my dad - Ronnie, in your prayers. These clots could pass (not dissolve) and go to his lungs, brain, or heart, which can all 2 be fatal. Thanks in advance for those prayers!

ok, why are you injecting yourself? Did I miss that part? Anyway, once again, you've captured a plain thing beautifully. That first shot (hahaha, how many people have used that pun already today?) is just wonderful.

those shot are incredible. the drop on the needle on the first one is terrific. I wanna say I could inject myself if I knew it was for the health of my baby, but my initial response is NO WAY!
