Happy Memorial Day! POTD 5.28.07
Memorial Day is a chance for us all to remember those that have given their lives for our freedom. Let's all take a moment to remember those that have been so selfless to have paid the ultimate price...
Now, one thing I cannot live without is food, especially when going to a fair or carnival!! I try really hard to eat healthy, but it just tempts me to no end to see fried potatoes, turkey legs and shaved ice! We went downtown to celebrate Territory Days and did just that, had a feast of junk food-it was heavenly. Even little A has become a turkey leg lover (did I ever doubt he would?) I'm sure some have seen these on 2peas, I just could not help myself...just love me some "fair food."
I guess if there was something to like about the summer for me, it would be BBQs and outdoor festivals. Oh, and the afternoon rain showers. Nothing like a little rain to ward off the heat a bit. We had nice cloud cover, but not til we left. During most of the time we were there, full-sun! We tried to find shade where we could and thankfully we have a lot of trees downtown, so it was not too hard.
Totally off topic, but...several commented on my hair color, noticing it was a bit darker. Your eyes are not fooling you. My hair grows like a weed, especially now being on prenatals and all. I had highlighted my hair just before finding out I was pregnant and it's already grown out. I have to get a cut every 3 weeks or else I look "wooly." Just noticed from the pictures it's time to make another appointment. So...this is my natural self, kind of a dishwater blonde (WHO came up with that name anyway?) I'm actually surprised I'm still blonde as my mom went to brown much earlier in life. Guess I'll be skipping the brown all together and be stocking up on some Nice N' Easy gray coverage;)Just in case you care, that's my MIL in the shot above DH. Wonder how she'll enjoy seeing herself eating a turkey leg on my blog, for all to see? Hmmmm....

Hahaha on the mil eating on your blog comment. Too funny. Great shots of some good eats. You made me hungry, and just got back from stuffing my face at my favorite Mexican Restaurant. Go figure. LOL I've never had a turkey leg. I guess I need to put it on the list of things to try.
i love the potatoe chip shot. that would be a great stock photo to have... the others are great documentary shots as well.. nice job
all that's missing is the funnel cake....:)
mmmmmmm.... man you made me hungry again! I saw these earlier and all this talk about turkey legs is really getting to me, and it's not like you can just out and get one:) Oh well, great Shots as usual!
I could really use a midnight snack now...LoL...your picture of the pototoes looks good enough to eat!
Yummy!! Looks great! All your pics are so clear
hehe, the turkey leg shots are so funny. We don't have turkey legs at our fairs around here... what's the deal? I really like the potato chip shot... so sharp.
Too funny! Great post. I got to see my brother yesterday - he will be deployed in a less than 2 weeks. This was his last goodbye. Today is just another reminder of how precious our lives are because of those who protect it. Love your second pictures - those colors are great and I like your sun glasses :)
ROFL! about your mil's reaction! these are great shots!
Mmmmm, I love Fair Food! Are those "Tornado Taters"? Great shots!
my oh my oh my - I'm drooling right now. I've NEVER had a turkey leg, but I'm telling you I've always wanted to tear into one of those babies!
Okay, so that explains what a carnival turkey leg is.
