The constant quest for perfection

At this very moment I'm trying to focus on getting these New Years cards done-ACK! This is what the front looks like, very simple and very...me. Every so often I get the need to be crafty, it's like an obsession. I think this is also a symbol of what I need to focus on for 2008. You see...I tend to be a perfectionist when it comes to art and such and it's so frusturating. I need to just step back and just focus on getting the job done, rather than having all these half-finished projects lying around because they are not 'perfect.' Obviously this card is not perfect, some of the paint didn't adhere to the card etc, but I'm realizing that I actually like it better this way...imperfect.

Oh...and FYI, it's real paint, not digital. I'm so not good at the digi scrapping stuff.

This is great! I love it! Perfect just the way it is. You are so good to do cards for New Years. I was all worn out after Christmas on cards!

Your card is so frickin' cute. Imperfection always makes art more interesting so make sure to create lots of imperfect art this year!

What a great design! I like the uneven paint--adds to the charm. And those googly eyes are a hoot. I understand the perfectionist thing--that's something I have to fight.

Eeks! How many of these are you making?? You are so good.
These are adorable. And wouldn't be as cute is they were each and every one perfect. For that, buy a store bought card, silly!

These are so cute - love his eyes! I get the need to be crafty/artsy at times, too and I have a few unfinished projects simply because they weren't looking perfect. I think the imperfections of handmade items is what makes them special, so I guess we have to remember that. Looks like we all think these are perfect just the way they are!

On another note-how did you get this photo to look so "perfect"? :) No shadows and the white and colors are so clear. Is it lighting? Did you do any Photoshop adjusting? I am struggling with white backgrounds. I really like the look of a clean, uncluttered white background sometimes and I can't seem to accomplish it without doing a ton of PP.

such a cute card... you are much craftier than I could ever hope to be ;)

i LOVE the imperfection! it totally makes it "perfect" imo!

i so wish i had time to do stuff like this! {big sigh}.... maybe i'll just live vicariously through you! :)

Precious!! We didn't get Christmas cards out either... I considered New Year's cards, but not sure that's happening either!

I love these and the recipients will feel so special knowing you handmade each one. The picture is perfect for your family and goes well with the shot you're using. Wonderful!!
