The constant quest for perfection
At this very moment I'm trying to focus on getting these New Years cards done-ACK! This is what the front looks like, very simple and very...me. Every so often I get the need to be crafty, it's like an obsession. I think this is also a symbol of what I need to focus on for 2008. You see...I tend to be a perfectionist when it comes to art and such and it's so frusturating. I need to just step back and just focus on getting the job done, rather than having all these half-finished projects lying around because they are not 'perfect.' Obviously this card is not perfect, some of the paint didn't adhere to the card etc, but I'm realizing that I actually like it better this way...imperfect.
Oh...and FYI, it's real paint, not digital. I'm so not good at the digi scrapping stuff.

This is adorable...I love the idea of a New Year card so much. I might have to try that next year.
Absolutely adorable card!!
awww love the penguin! Just perfect!
I like it as is too!
wow, I think it's awesome! Did you do that on the computer or with real paint?
Cute. Look at it this way if you don't get it done you can send it as a valentines card. Just kidding. good luck
Way cute. I have the same problem. Great at starting projects just not finishing them.
What a great little card. You're right, perfect as it is :)
what does not seem perfect to you, seems really perfect to me. You are so talented. I could never paint anything like that. Very cute!
Your card is so frickin' cute. Imperfection always makes art more interesting so make sure to create lots of imperfect art this year!
Those are so cute! I'd say you have a talent for painting. I wish I had talent like that.
I love it the way it is. And the pic of it is great also! I like imperfections...looks more "hand-made" good job!
Heather, I love this! You are such a multi-talented woman! I also adore your new blog banner, such a great picture of the 4 of you....you all look so happy and carefree!
PS...We'll be doing a new years card as well....if I ever get around to it...might be valentines cards LMBO...I'm so bad at that!
So cute! You did a great job
And where do you find the time to do this w/2 little ones? haha this is so cute!
That is so stinkin' cute!
Cari
good for you for getting out the real paint! very fun and I know that it must have taken so much time to do each one individually. your loved ones will love it!

Heather, I love this! I'm impressed with your artistic talent!
These are adorable! I love the little eyes on it. Does it take a long time to do each one?
What a fantastic card..you painted that? So imppressed! Im a perfectionist too..its tough, I know :) I love your blog, thanks for sharing!!
What an ADORABLE card!! LOVE IT!
Adorable! Sounds like good words of wisdom. Those are going to be fun cards to receive.
This is adorable!!
What a great design! I like the uneven paint--adds to the charm. And those googly eyes are a hoot. I understand the perfectionist thing--that's something I have to fight.
This is really adorable!
This is so cute! Are you going to hand paint each one or reproduce it?
Adorable!
Love this! I think it looks great the way it is
Such cute cards. I really like the idea of a New Year card --- maybe I should try sending one next year since I never get around to Christmas cards.
You are so talented! I really love this!
I like it, cute card!! I think its perfect, good work!!
SO cute
Eeks! How many of these are you making?? You are so good.
These are adorable. And wouldn't be as cute is they were each and every one perfect. For that, buy a store bought card, silly!
These are so cute - love his eyes! I get the need to be crafty/artsy at times, too and I have a few unfinished projects simply because they weren't looking perfect. I think the imperfections of handmade items is what makes them special, so I guess we have to remember that. Looks like we all think these are perfect just the way they are!
On another note-how did you get this photo to look so "perfect"? :) No shadows and the white and colors are so clear. Is it lighting? Did you do any Photoshop adjusting? I am struggling with white backgrounds. I really like the look of a clean, uncluttered white background sometimes and I can't seem to accomplish it without doing a ton of PP.
such a cute card... you are much craftier than I could ever hope to be ;)
i LOVE the imperfection! it totally makes it "perfect" imo!
i so wish i had time to do stuff like this! {big sigh}.... maybe i'll just live vicariously through you! :)
Precious!! We didn't get Christmas cards out either... I considered New Year's cards, but not sure that's happening either!
I love these and the recipients will feel so special knowing you handmade each one. The picture is perfect for your family and goes well with the shot you're using. Wonderful!!
I LOVE it! That's awesome!
