We are certifiably insane!

For New Year's Eve, we went to the zoo. Nevermind the 1 degree temp and 25mph wind speeds...we wanted to see the lights. Don't worry though, the boys were bundled to the enth-degree-would not be surprised if they didn't see any lights. Despite the weather, the zoo puts on a nice display of lights to usher in the New Year and I'm glad we fought the elements and decided to go-after all...we are Coloradans!

A few of the lights around the zoo. I didn't have a tripod, or I would have love to have taken some long exposure shots (some of the animals moved.)

A nice stranger was kind enough to take this, allowing me to get in a picture. Please disregard the hat hair.

They were passing out hot cocoa to all the visitors, YUM-O!

My FIL actually brought this krispie treat from home. By the time he got to enjoy it, it was rock hard.

I was not about to nurse in the freezing temps, so N got the bottle (sorry Buba.)
I just LOVE this man...he's such a trooper to put up with all my crazy ideas. Oh, and speaking of crazy.....check me out (I was really bored in the gift shop.)

You definitely can't take life too seriously when you're with me...

All pics taken with 5d, 24-70L, AV mode with ISO 200-800, ap 2.8-4.0. I used the speedlite on the indoor pics and nope, not your monitor...there is a big color cast on my silly shot, but I just thought it needed to be in color to match the mood I was in.

Sounds like lots of fun to me! Good for you for braving the COLD weather. Our zoo has a light show too, but nothing as elaborate as this. I love that first shot.

Great memories - definitely worth the chills and "hat head". Way to stay on the POTD theme!

Too fun- we would definately have a lot of fun together if we were near each other! That looks like it was lots of fun, even if it was freezing.
